Abstract

Islamic economy is a system or economic science based on Islamic values, principles, and laws derived from Al-Qur'an, Hadith, Ijma', and Qiyas. Meanwhile, the socialist economic system is an economic system that emphasises collective ownership and the dominant role of the government in regulating economic activities. Both systems pay attention to welfare and equalisation, but have different foundations and mechanisms. This research aims to examine the background, characteristics, principles, and differences between the socialist economic system and the Islamic economy, especially in resource ownership, the role of the state, and the distribution of wealth. The research uses the literature study method with a descriptivecomparative approach through the study of various relevant literatures. The results of the study show that socialism prioritises state control, while the Islamic economy recognises individual ownership with sharia restrictions and emphasises justice, social responsibility, and benefit. Thus, both have similar welfare goals but with different approaches.
