Environmental damage has become an increasingly serious global problem due to increasing human activities that ignore ecological balance. Various phenomena such as floods, landslides, environmental pollution, the clean water crisis, climate change, and the loss of biodiversity indicate a decline in environmental quality that impacts human life. From an Islamic perspective, humans hold the position of caliphs (khalifah) responsible for protecting and wisely managing the earth. The concept of green fiqh (fiqh al-bi'ah) presents itself as an approach to Islamic law that integrates spiritual, moral, and ecological values in environmental preservation. This study aims to examine the concept of green fiqh, its theological foundations, and its relevance in addressing contemporary environmental issues. The method used is library research utilizing various national scientific journals, books, and relevant supporting documents. The results of the study indicate that green fiqh is built on the principles of caliphate, balance (mizan), benefit (maslahah), and the prohibition of causing damage (fasad). The implementation of these principles can serve as a foundation for building public ecological awareness and supporting sustainable development in harmony with Islamic values.
