The increasing rate of divorce initiated by wives in Indonesian society reflects a fundamental problem in household resilience and the lack of understanding of Islamic family law. Many women make legal decisions without a comprehensive understanding of marital rights and obligations, as well as the conflict resolution mechanisms provided in Islam. In this context, majelis taklim, or community-based religious forums, are seen as having significant potential to serve as platforms for legal family education. This study aims to explore how empowering majelis taklim can reduce the rate of wife-initiated divorce through communicative and culturally relevant educational approaches. This study uses a library research method by analyzing various literatures related to Islamic family law, divorce dynamics, and the religious-social role of majelis taklim. The data were analyzed qualitatively using a descriptive-analytical approach. The findings show that although not yet fully utilized, majelis taklim have wide community outreach and strong social intimacy that support the delivery of legal education. With structured materials and trained facilitators, these forums can enhance women’s legal awareness and direct them toward constructive and sharia-compliant conflict resolution. In conclusion, empowering majelis taklim as centers for family legal education is a relevant and applicable preventive strategy to reduce the divorce rate. This research offers both theoretical and practical contributions to the development of harmonious Islamic families through community-based religious approaches.
