ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN KONEKSI MATEMATIS SISWA DENGAN MATERI ALJABAR KELAS VII SMP
Abstract
Mathematical connection ability is an important skill in mathematics learning because it helps students relate concepts, procedures, and apply mathematics in various situations. This study aims to analyze the mathematical connection ability of seventh-grade junior high school students on algebra material and identify students’ difficulties based on mathematical connection indicators. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through mathematical connection ability tests and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ mathematical connection ability was still low. From 30 students, 14 students (47%) were categorized as low, 10 students (33%) as moderate, and 6 students (20%) as very low, with no students achieving high or very high categories. The main difficulties were found in connecting algebraic concepts with everyday situations, understanding relationships among concepts, and evaluating mathematical solutions.
